Phytotherapy Programmes

Department of Complementary Medicine:

The Department of Complementary Medicine at the Faculty of Health Sciences is offering professional programmes, which will allow for comprehensive theoretical and practical training in the disciplines of phytotherapy, homeopathy and acupuncture.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Phytotherapy (PGDip Phytotherapy): 

The PGDip Phytotherapy is a two-year, part-time programme available to practitioners registered with the AHPCSA or HPCSA. The qualifying graduate will be able to formulate comprehensive treatment plans for health promotion and management, as well as compound, dispense and prescribe complementary medicines within their scope of practice.

Graduates of the PGDip Phytotherapy programme will be eligible to register with the AHPCSA as a phytotherapist.
